UN FAO
The United Nation’s Food and Agricultural Organisation’s Fish and Aquaculture Division produces a wealth of information and guidance regarding global fisheries.
In our evaluations, we draw upon the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fishing and its Technical Guidelines as the starting point for judging the status of fish stocks, and their Factsheets on Fishing Gears and on Fishing Techniques as the starting point for assessing the selectivity of fishing gears and the wider environmental impacts.
We also use the biannual State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture (SOFIA) as an invaluable reference source.
